I still don't know why teams want to deal with Calgary. It always seems like they want to bail out their problems. Maybe I'm just not seeing that they're also moving good picks and players in doing so and not getting the type of return they want. But, still, I'd avoid them as much as possible.
Some people have been saying it's to get Kovalchuk. But what would Atlanta want that they can offer? And if it's to sign him as an FA, why would he want to go to Calgary in the first place? There's nothing there for him.

If I were Atlanta, I would want Iggy for Kovalchuk.

Other than Iggy and Bouwmeester, Calgary has nothing to offer Atlanta in a trade, and neither of those guys are going anywhere. If they're making a play for Kovy its to clear space to make an offer in the off season after July 1st. Still don't think they can do it.

I guess Toronto won the trade after all. Calgary gets shutout 0-3 and Toronto wins 3-0. Three stars of the game: Giguere, Phaneuf, Sjostrom.
