Not sure how many golfers are on here, but to me, the Masters is probably the single biggest Major of the year, and I couldn't be happier that it is the First Major of the year.
When Weir won it in 2003, I was absolutely extatic. I couldn't believe that he won the fabled Green Jacket. He instantly became a Canadian Pop Culture Idol. Sure, he hasn't really played the same since, and has only won one PGA event since then, but I will still pull for him and still watch for him to make the cut and finish well on Sunday. He does play well in the Majors, its the smaller tournaments that he sucks in. And, for the first time in a while, he's NOT the top ranked Canadian in the Masters, that honour falls to Stephen Ames, who really isn't a Canadian, even if he did get his Canadian Citizenship two years ago. The Canadian Media is riding his coat tails for the time being. Before he was just a Calgary Resident, Stephen Ames from Tinidad and Tobago, but now, he's Canadian, Stephen Ames. Meh. No matter. I am still a Weir fan and still a HUGE golf fan.
I just hope someone OTHER than Tiger Woods wins the Green Jacket.
