General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers have named Jordan Eberle, Taylor Hall and Nick Schultz as assistant captains for the 2012-13 season. Eberle, 22, enters his third season with the Oilers where he has played in 147 career NHL games, recording 119 points (52G, 67A). The Regina, Saskatchewan native set a career high in 2011-12, where he lead the Oilers in scoring with 76 points (34G, 42A) in 78 games. He was also a 2012 NHL All-Star and a finalist for the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy. Hall, 22, is coming into his third season with the Oilers and has accumulated 95 points (49G, 46A) in 126 career NHL games. Last season Hall registered career highs in points (53), goals (27), and assists (26) in 61 games. Hall was named to the 2011 NHL All-Star game in Carolina, where he participated in the Skills Competition. Nick Schultz is entering his 11th NHL season, and second with the team after being acquired by Edmonton in a trade with Minnesota last season. The Strasbourg, Saskatchewan product brings a veteran presence to the team with 763 career NHL games under his belt, posting 132 points (26G, 106A), and 332 penalty minutes. The assistant captaincy will be shared between the three, with Eberle wearing an “A” every game, while Hall and Schultz will rotate the other “A” each game.
