General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers have acquired defenceman Mark Fistric from the Dallas Stars, in exchange for a third round draft choice in the 2013 NHL Draft. The trade will be completed once Fistric passes the club’s medical examination. • Oilers GM Steve Tambellini comments on the trade • View Mark Fistric's Player Bio Fistric, 26, has played all five of his NHL seasons with the Stars and has accumulated 23 points (3G, 20A), and 220 penalty minutes in 257 games. In 2011-2012 Fistric spent the entirety of the NHL season with Dallas, where he played in 60 games recording two assists and 41 penalty minutes. The 6”2, 233 pound defenceman has spent time in the American Hockey League in four of his six seasons with the Stars organization. Fistric has played in 148 games with Iowa Stars, Manitoba Moose, and the Texas Stars of the AHL where registered 42 points (3G, 34A) and 159 penalty minutes. The Edmonton native was born and raised in Edmonton and played his minor hockey for the Maple Leafs Athletic Club before going to play for the Western Hockey League’s Vancouver Giants for five seasons, where he recorded 58 points (11G, 47A) and 453 penalty minutes in 214 games. Fistric was drafted by the Dallas Stars in the 1st round, 28th overall in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
