Tom Renney's time as head coach of the Edmonton Oilers appears to be done after two seasons.
According to a team tweet, Oilers general manager Steve Tambellini has announced the club will not renew Renney's contract.
After finishing the season with the NHL's second- worst record, the Oilers decided to part ways with the 10th coach in their franchise's history.
Hired in 2010, Renney led the Oilers to a 25-45-12 record in his first season with the club. Last season, the team finished 32-40-10 and once again found themselves in last place in the league.
Prior to his time in Edmonton, Renney served as a head coach of the New York Rangers and Vancouver Canucks.

Not surprised. If I was coach and played Horcoff 30 minutes a night I'd kill myself and him.
I really liked Renney, but the more Horcoff SUCKED ASS, the more ice time he got, as mentioned in DARK's previous suck thread. I'm open to anybody who benches Horendouscoff. We don't need Smyth either. Seems he's holding out for cash again while bringing nothing to the tabl of what this team needs.
I have an autographed picture of him I got as a present. I got it after he left. It's still in the fuckin box. No need to even put it up now.
Please just give us a coach who holds veterans accountable. We don't even need FUCKIN VETERANS dragging this team down. Replace them with ACTUAL NHLERS!! Tambo should be gone too. K.Lo in charge until we make the playoffs or he's gone the following year as well. Our talent is producing, but the over playing off our "VETERANS" that suck are costing us big time.
And really I hate posting negative shit if you can belive it or not. Been trying to stay away hoping for positives. Tambo is never gonna bring that. The press release today was everything wrong with him, not Renney.

I for one am hoping that they hire a guy like Crawford. I like what he says and does on TSN, but he's also been successful as a head coach. Won the Cup with Colorado, who had a mix of youth and veterans, not unlike the Oilers. Also took a Vancouver Canuck team from mediocrity to top of the Division too.
Don't want an AHL or Junior coach. I also don't like the sentimental favourite of Sutter. He didn't get the fLAMES to the Post Season in the years he was there, so what's the fuckin point? Just because he's from Alberta he should be automatically considered for the job? Ok, he won the World Juniors and was basically undefeated as the Junior Coach, but who cares? He hasn't done shit as an NHL coach. hire him as the Junior coach to get back to winning that tournament.
My two cents.

I would not mind Crawford, but I believe it is Sutter. I do believe this is Tams bubble year for the Oilers to make dramatic improvements or else.

Funny thing is, usually when someone denies they are being hired or they are not gonig to trade someone, the exact opposite happens.
