The Edmonton Oilers acquired defenceman Bryan Rodney from the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday in exchange for centre Ryan O'Marra.
Rodney has played in 41 games this season with the Syracuse Crunch collecting 20 points.
The 27-year-old rearguard has played 33 career NHL games with the Carolina Hurricanes scoring a goal and adding 12 assists. In 280 AHL games with the Hartford Wolf Pack, Albany River Rats, Charlotte Checkers and the Crunch, Rodney has recorded 156 points. He was also named an AHL All-Star in 2010 and 2011.
O'Marra has recorded one assist in seven games for the Oilers this season.
