A scoreless game turned in a flurry of third-period goals as the Hamilton Bulldogs beat the Oklahoma City Barons 4-1 on Sunday at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton to win the North Division semi-final series four games to two and bring the Barons' inaugural season to a close.
Hamilton moves on to face either Lake Erie or Manitoba in the North Division Final.
Oklahoma City's Alex Giroux broke a scoreless deadlock 5:41 into the third period, picking up a deflected pass in the deep slot, to give the Barons a 1-0 lead. But Nigel Dawes followed a minute and two seconds later with a tying goal from the deep slot.
Frederic St. Denis put home a point shot on the power play at 17:04 for the eventual winner. Hamilton finished the series 6-for-35 on the power play while the Barons were 1-for-30 with the man advantage.
The Bulldogs extended the final winning margin with last-minute, empty-net goals by Dawes and J.T. Wyman.
Drew MacIntyre earned the win in net for Hamilton with Martin Gerber taking the loss. Oklahoma City out-shot Hamilton 25-19.
