The Calgary Stampeders are expected to announce the signing of running back Jesse Lumsden on Tuesday.
The Burlington, Ontario native rejected an opportunity to sign with Winnipeg last week.
A member of Canada's bobsleigh team and based in Calgary, Lumsden played only one game last season with Edmonton, which signed him in the off-season, re-injuring a shoulder that he'd hurt the year before in Hamilton.
The 28-year-old will join a team that has one of the deepest running backs corps in the league, with import Joffrey Reynolds and non-import Jon Cornish. Reynolds is third overall in league rushing with 881 yards, while Cornish, who has been used every third series this season, is ninth overall with 414 yards and has an average of 7.8 yards per carry, the most of any running back in the league.
