Calgary centre Olli Jokinen and forward Brandon Prust to the Rangers in exchange for forwards Ales Kotalik and Christopher Higgins.

Uh...seems like a stupid trade from the Flames' perspective.
I'm not a fan of Jokinen, but he still produces decent offensive numbers and has an expiring contract at the end of the year. After all the talk from the Calgary media today about acquiring more cap space, they bring in a serious underachiever with two more years at $3 million per.
More 2nd/3rd liners come to Calgary. Odd.

Is he going to want to come to Alberta again though? I heard that he didn't really like it here before. But that was Edmonton, not Calgary.
I hope this move blows up in their faces.

I hope Kotalik gives his approval. I really do.

Kotalik has 22 pts in 45 games. He makes 3 million per and is one the books for two more years. His highest point totals were 62 points followed by 43 points. I hope this deal goes through as well, although a part of me really wants a player to refuse to go to Calgary.

I really think they should not have NTC in contracts. Teams that give them are dumb. This really screws them.

I think the NTC/NMC are okay if both sides are in agreement for some sore of short term stability. People have lives too and there's nothing wrong with having some stability in it. What's dumb are the stupid ass managers (and sometimes players) that sign these clauses and then try to trade them soon after.
I don't want this trade to go through because Kotalik makes half of what the Finnish Cancer makes for the same on ice results. I would even go as far to say that Kotalik is a better player than old bug eyes. Let him sit and rot on the Flames roster, especially now knowing about a possible mid-season trade. There's been more than enough trash talk this year from Phlegmers for karma to sweep in and make the Flames miss the playoffs. 9th would be nice.

Oops, I didn't realize Kotalik has been a healthy scratch for 8 of the last 9 games and is a whopping -18 as well. Get 'er done Flames!! ahaaaa!
