San Jose Sharks re-sign veteran centre Marcel Goc to one-year deal Canadian Press Jul 11, 2008, 9:58 PM EDT SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Sharks re-signed centre Marcel Goc to a US$775,000, one-year contract Friday, avoiding arbitration with the defensive specialist. Goc, a three-year veteran, had five goals and three assists in 51 games last season while playing mostly on the Sharks' checking line. His offensive struggles led to frequent benchings by coach Ron Wilson, but Goc also appeared in four playoff games. Goc, a former first-round pick, was among 15 NHL players who filed for salary arbitration last week. He agreed to terms two days after fellow German Olympian Christian Ehrhoff signed a $9.3-million, three-year deal to return to San Jose. The Sharks still haven't finalized a deal with forward Ryane Clowe, their only key restricted free agent who remains unsigned. www.nhl.com/nhl/app?articleid=368285&page=NewsPage&service=page
