Carolina Hurricanes reach deal with defenceman Dennis Seidenberg Canadian Press Jul 7, 2008, 12:28 PM EDT RALEIGH, N.C. - The Carolina Hurricanes agreed to terms with defenceman Dennis Seidenberg on a US$1.2-million, one-year contract Monday. The 26-year-old Seidenberg was a restricted free agent. He played 47 games with Carolina last year, finishing with a career-high 15 assists while posting a plus-6 rating. The move was the latest as the Hurricanes try to shore up a blue-line plagued by spotty play last season. Already this off-season, they have traded for Joni Pitkanen and signed Josef Melichar while agreeing to a new deal with Tim Gleason. The team also said that restricted free agent Chad LaRose is filing for salary arbitration. LaRose made $500,000 last year. www.nhl.com/nhl/app?articleid=367902&page=NewsPage&service=page
