TORONTO (CP) -- The Toronto Blue Jays released right-hander Tomo Ohka on Monday. Ohka was designated for assignment on June 7, the Jays moving right-hander Josh Towers back into the starting rotation to replace him. The Jays then had 10 days to trade Ohka, send him to the minors or release him outright. The Blue Jays rolled the dice on the 31-year-old pitcher this past winter, signing Ohka to a $1.5-million, one-year deal plus incentives. But he was inconsistent in his 10 starts, posting a 2-5 record with a 5.79 ERA. In his last game with the Jays, on June 6, he was roughed up for five runs in 3 1-3 innings in Toronto's 6-2 loss to the Devil Rays. In 56 innings, the Kyoto, Japan native allowed 68 hits, 10 home runs, 22 walks and recorded 21 strikeouts. He was signed as a free agent in January 2007 to a one-year deal. www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/article.jsp?content=20070618_152419_5276

Pretty bad when a pitcher walks more guys than he strikes out and almost gives up as many homeruns as well.

The jays have been playing well latelt. I highly doubt that they will catch the BoSox but the wildcard is still theirs to take.

I am hoping they can get consistent and play 750 ball, but if the Yankees miss the playoffs I will be thrilled.

Weird game tonight, that Towers is a hunk of shit.
That Zaun is way unerrated, the guy made some huge plays for the team tonight.

Towers has won two of his last three starts. He appears to be coming back to form. His last start was nothing short of a gem. 8 1/3 innings, three hits, no runs. Didn't get the decision as Rios drove in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth with Accardo pitching in a 0-0 ball game at the time. Great battle.
This team is starting to come together. Now that Johnson is finally back, maybe they can really get some offence going.

Season high 5 game winning streak. Over 500. ChiSox and Tbay up next..2 struggling teams. They may be some hope left in Jay-land.

The only disappointing thing about the Blue Jays playing well, is that the stupid Yankees are doing even better.
Hate the fucking Yankees.....
