Bombers acquire DB Nugent from Eskimos Canadian Press 4/11/2007 12:21:51 PM The Winnipeg Blue Bombers fortified their Canadian content today with the acquisition of non-import defensive back Jason Nugent in a trade with the Edmonton Eskimos. The Blue Bombers acquired Nugent and a fifth round pick in the 2007 CFL College Draft from the Eskimos in exchange for defensive tackle Ron Warner and a fourth round pick in this year's CFL Draft. "Jason Nugent is a highly-regarded non-import who we ranked quite highly in our draft evaluations last year," said Bombers G.M. Brendan Taman. "We're very happy to add him to the mix of Canadian defensive backs we have. "We're always looking to add young, upcoming talent to the football club. At the same time, you have to give up a quality player to get a quality player." Nugent appeared in one game last season after being selected in the second round (17th overall) of the 2006 CFL College Draft by Edmonton. Originally a running back, Nugent was converted to defensive back at Rutgers University. In 2005, he made 38 tackles, one interception and forced a fumble in 11 games with the Scarlet Knights. That followed a 2004 campaign that saw him register 38 total tackles, two and a half tackles for losses and one forced fumble in 11 games, including five starts. www.tsn.ca/cfl/news_story/?ID=203739&hubname=cfl

The "ageless" Frank played 10 CFL seasons, the last eight with the Esks, where he earned the respect of teammates and opponents alike as a quiet leader and fearless competitor. “Malcolm let his play do the talking and he went about his job with little fanfare," Eskimo Head Coach and Director of Football Operations Danny Maciocia said. "But I can't think of another player during my time in Edmonton who brought such a high level of integrity and commitment to his job every season.” Last season Frank started all 18 games and led the Eskimo defense in tackles with 68. He returned from retirement in 2002 and enjoyed a resurgence as Edmonton's defensive backfield anchor. The Eskimos also announced the release of WR Rob LeBlanc, DT Randy Spencer and DT Jermaine Lee. A graduate of McGill, LeBlanc spent two seasons with the Eskimos after being drafted by the club as their third selection (5th round, 40th overall) in the 2005 CFL Canadian Draft. In 2005 he played in four regular season games and the Grey Cup. Last season, he saw action in 17 games, mostly on special teams. Went to the game last night. We suck. Macocia sucks. Fuck he is useless.. I never liked him - even after the greycup win... he inhereted a solid team - we win the cup despite his coaching abilities not because of them.. ... Then coaches us out of the playoffs for the 1st time in 34 years, and looks to be a repeat this year.. fucking useless.. Maybe he and Mact could switch for a year. both couldnt do any worse.

I havnt watched eskies football since they let Higgins go. He was backdoored by the team, or so I feel. Maccoccia was lucky winning the grey cup when he did. I feel the same about how he runs the team, he really has no fucking clue what he is doing. The esks will be in shambles until he is out the door.

Very dumb move. Abdullah didn't do anything wrong.
Maccoccia sucks balls. Fire the little shit.
And, for the record, Turd Ferguson shouldn't be our place kicker anymore. He couldn't hit the broad side of a barn from the inside and the windows boarded up. He's useless. Has been for two years now.

Oh, you want to know what is the kicker in the cutting of Abdullah?! Apparently no one on the team was surprised (according to Maccoccia), butttttttttttt they didn't release him outright, so he can't even go play for another team. That is COMPLETE SHIT if I ever heard it. Either he's on your team or he isn't. That's fucked up.

Maccoccia is a real man's man. I got some hair implants on my chest in an effort to be more manly after watching him dance around like a fairy after the 2005 Grey Cup.
