Sportsnet.ca - The CFL's board of directors are looking to sell the naming rights to the Grey Cup for as much as $10 million per season.
As reported in Thursday's Toronto Star, a high-ranking CFL source says that "as soon as 2008 you could see players competing in the Rona Grey Cup or the Ford Grey Cup. It's for sale and the league will be pushing ahead with this."
The franchise owners are enticed by the prospect of an additional $1 million a year per team. "If you had the chance to put an extra million dollars in your pocket and it meant changing the name of the championship, what would you do?" the league source said.

Sadly its the way of business. I see Gary Bettman's eyes lighting up and next year when the Oilers compete for the Viagra Stanley Cup, you will know why.

No way. Stanley makes the phrase too long. Just the Viagra Cup. 'Its the hardest cup to win in sports.' Thats copyrighted incase they try to use it and so is 'The hardest cup in sports'

You better register that shit Dave! lmao Seriously.....hardestcup.com.......you never know, maybe somebody will buy it off you for $10k. Unless of course Gene Simmons already owns it.
My mom has been pursued legally to change the name of her music store in Edmonton because some American wanker registered that name last year and she's been using it for 5 years or more.

I think its a pathetic way to "endorse" a company/product/whatever. Taking away the ORIGINAL name of a sports trophy that has so much history behind it. Why change something that is good? All the die-hard fans will always remember it as the Grey Cup and not whatevery un-noteworthy name that some company pays to rename it. For all we know some person is going to purchase it and name it after themselves, a loved one or after a deceased pet (not that I have anything against naming something after a deceased loved pet)
COME ON!!!!!! IT'S THE FRICKEN GREY CUP! LEAVE IT THE HELL ALONE!.
And for now I will just shut my big yap.
